Dear All

I would like to inform you that the Centre for Ambedkar Studies is conducting a National Conference on 'Dr. Ambedkar's Ideologies: Revision & Vision' on 1 & 2 March 2007 . The theme of the Conference is-
Dr. Ambedkar is not a theoretician; he is a practical sociologist and a legal luminary - a multifaceted personality. His ideologies have the sole purpose of 'changing'the society.
All attempts at changing the society have proved uphill tasks. They have had to face hurdles and betrayals; Dr. Ambedkar's ideologies too had to face them. We have observed them for the last six decades.
Though his ideologies have succeededin 'changing'the Indian society to a large extent, their failures are also sifnigicant.
An in-depth analysis of the reasons for their successes and failures are the need of the hour. Such a diagnosis to identify the hurdles and betrayals is necessary to draw a road map for the future and better implementation and better realization of his ideologies.

Bharata Ratna Dr.B.R. Ambedkar is an epoch making towering personality of the twentieth century. From a moderate beginning in the oppressed class he strode past several hurdles with indefatigable industry and acumen par excellence to the status of a constitutional maker of a vast democratic country. His life is remarkable to emulate and his works give impetus to generations towards progress and his struggles give necessary aplomb to the teeming millions. Every Indian, nay, every citizen in the world knows his contribution. It is apt and in the fitness of the things that our University has established the Centre for Ambedkar Studies.

Operational Features of the Centre:

· Lectures by eminent social activists, thinkers and constitutional experts.
· Encouraging research in Ambedkar Studies.
· Developing the Library and Reading Centre exclusively for Ambedkar Studies in the University.
· Conduct of conferences/seminars/symposia and workshops on Ambedkar to create awareness and to have in depth knowledge about Ambedkarism.
· Conducting short term courses.
· To interact with and encourage the NGOs and Self-Help groups to organize the programmes on Ambedkar.
· Redesigning the curriculum of the disciplines having out reach activities and filed work in order to take up the programmes of disseminating the philosophy of Ambedkar.
